‘An elephant in the room’ is an English-language metaphorical idiom for an obvious problem no one wants to discuss, or a condition no one wants to challenge. This phrase has coined the main objective of the Silent Elephant Project (SEP) – Giving 'silent' marginalised life limiting and long-term health conditions that are prevalent in society (elephants in the room) a platform and voice, through creative and interactive projects.
This ongoing project has originated from the impact of Covid-19 and how it has highlighted and exacerbated significant differences in the way 'minority' ethnic individuals interact with health care service providers as oppose to the general white population here in Manchester, UK.
“Everyday People talking health” is a community focused project designed to engage young people with health research and expand their awareness of health conditions.
Manchester Health Film Festival is the first EVER city-wide Film Festival that brings together outstanding creative talents, health professionals and the public to discuss health through creative films.
